2012 Alliance for Community Media Conference

The 2012 Alliance for Community Media's National Conference will be in Chicago July 31st - August 2nd and
Sound exciting? SCC will be sponsoring up to three (3) public access producers' registration for the conference, a $425 value! (Travel, hotel, food etc. will not be covered and are the responsibilitiy of each producer.)
Day 1 is an intensive approach to technology to help expand your knowledge and skills using new media tools. The agenda includes technical work shops, half-day training and the Exhibit Hall. You will hear keynotes by noted professionals, educational workshops and networking events. Day 2-3 hear from experts on fundraising, community engagement, public policy, youth media and more. The Hometown Media Awards dinner is on Wednesday evening.
So how do you get in on this? If you know that you are able to arrange travle and accomodations to Chicago July 31st - August 2nd and are interested in attending the 2012 ACM conference, simply fill out the entry form available May 1st, and turn in to SCC staff by 6PM on Saturday, May 19th. A random drawing will be held of all entries and up to three (3) winners will be notified.

It is that time of year again to start thinking about the Hometown Media Awards! Held by the Alliance for Community Media, the Hometown Media Awards, recognizes programming on P.E.G. channels that "address community needs, develop diverce community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats and move viewers to experience television in a different way."
RWSCC will be sponsoring up to five producers' entry into the Hometown Awards for 2012. Producers interested in becoming eligible for this sponsorship need to turn in all submission material (located below) to SCC staff by 6pm on Saturday, March 24th. If more than 5 submissions are entered, entries will be drawn by lottery to select the five sponsored submissions. If you enter and are not drawn, you can still submit your program to Hometown on your own by April 2nd.
SCC volunteer producers work hard to create meaningful and creative programming for out communities. Here's YOUR chance to share it nationally and get recognized for their incredible efforts! Please read the rules and submissions requirements carefully and see staff with any questions.
