Candidate Statements
All municipal, state legislative and county commissioner candidates in our service area were invited to submit a photo and statement. These are the candidates who chose to participate.

In the past two years, the city council has increased water rates,
sewer rates, the general levy (two years in a row), dog license fees
and has approved two wasteful projects--both over $30,000. It has
also increased the clerk's pay by 6% with just two years service,
and the treasurer's pay by 6% after 18 months. At the same time, it
has failed to do the necessary maintenance of our main road and it
continues to deteriorate--which leads to significantly more costly
repairs in the future. Most scary: the council has failed to
repair water hydrants that have been out of commission for TWO
YEARS!
Conversely, when I was mayor two years ago, the city reduced its
levy by 17% for 2010 and 2011, reduced sewer surcharges by $100 per
year, reduced garbage rates, including a $60/year savings for small
can users, and required competitive bidding for yearly contracts
(mowing, snowplowing, sweeping, maintenance). We also saved $30,000
by seeking outside advice for installing a new tennis court surface
